View Dr. Ronald E. McNair Middle School
Directed by Mr. K. Lewis, the MMS band collaborates with the high school band for homecoming and other annual events.  Instrument (rented, owned, or borrowed) is required for participation.  However,  a student's desire to learn and excell  is extremely important.  Practice takes place on Mondays and Tuesdays at Mcnair High School.  Transportation to that site is provided.  Parental support is needed and encouraged. Donations of instruments is greatly welcomed.

Who inspires the athletes?

The Ronald E. McNair Middle School cheerleaders are a spirited group of 7th and 8th grade girls who are committed to representing Ronald E. McNair Middle positively in action and in speech.  These girls are required to pass each class with a minimum 2.8 GPA as well as receive positive behavior references from each of their teachers.  Currently, DeKalb County Schools only allow 7th and 8th graders to participate in sports activities.  Sixth graders are not allowed to try out or participate until the end of the current school year upon entering 7th grade.  Cheer practices are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise expressed by the coaches. The squad for both football and basketball is determined during the end of the current school year.  Whomever is chosen during those tryouts will cheer for both seasons.

Here at McNair our cheerleaders are more than a cheer squad, they are a family. During the course of the year there are several team building activities that encourage unity, respect, and sisterhood.

See Coaches Swanson and Lee for further information.
Directed by Mr. I. Kennel, The MMS Colt Chorus is an engaging performance-based group with several concerts throughout the year. Our talented 6th, 7th, and 8th grade choruses sing many musical styles ranging from classical, jazz, pop, and everything in-between. Parental support is needed and encouraged! Building character is the goal. Beautiful music is simply the result!
